Following a few metaverse-quiet weeks, brands are once again reviving their digital roadmaps.
Balmain is making a comeback in the virtual world and bringing its popular Unicorn sneakers with it.
Brands that wish to compete will undoubtedly have their work cut out for them as the Parisian label continues to demonstrate its leadership in Web3 interaction.

Balmain and Space Runners collaborate to bring their futuristic-inspired shoe to Web3.
Balmain is releasing a metaverse-exclusive cross-boundary version of its innovative Unicorn sneaker silhouette. The clunky sneaker was praised last year for its distinctive style, which had an appearance that seemed to have been taken directly out of the sci-fi movie Blade Runner, and its radically futuristic silhouette. The flagship item of the luxury brand is currently undergoing a physical overhaul. Balmain will release a set of NFTs based on the Unicorn sneaker in a new colorway with a physical twin that will be offered in varying levels of rarity in cooperation with Web3 fashion label Space Runners. Even though the final pricing has not yet been determined, the initiative has already received a tremendous amount of support on social media.
Balmain’s commitment to going beyond the norm supports the company’s offline and online goals. It makes sense for the label to collaborate with Space Runners, who are making their first foray into the physical world through this project. The firm, which is one to watch in the virtual world, specializes in giving fashion labels the chance to experiment with augmented reality, gamified experiences, and now cross-border collections.
Balmain is a major actor in the metaverse thanks to its daring attempt to obfuscate the lines between the online and offline worlds. The label developed skins for the Need For Speed game, launched its own own Web3 community area, and collaborated with Barbie on a fun NFT launch last year. Balmain is now preparing to enter the digital wearables market for the first time, proving that no project is too huge for the brand.
