“IN THE MAKING” BY JAEGER-LECOULTRE

Jaeger-LeCoultre, a high-end Swiss watch brand, debuted its In the Making video series. The series takes viewers behind the scenes at the company’s Vallée de Joux manufacturing facility as it gently reveals each of the 180 artisanal steps that go into creating a Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece.

The series is committed to presenting one talent at a time and finally illuminating even the most obscure steps in the manufacture of watches. The artisans themselves will also describe each step of the process in order to offer their technical advice and give them a platform to share their enthusiasm for the work.

The book In the Making is divided into a number of chapters, each of which corresponds to a stage in the creation of an excellent clock. These chapters include Design, Produce, Finish, and Decoration. Only eight films, all of which focus on the Design chapter, have been made available thus far. The films cover the aesthetics and style, research and development, polishing, repair, bevelling, enameling, engraving, and gem-setting steps of the designing process for a clock.

The series is currently offered on the official Jaeger-LeCoultre website.
